Fifteen years after she first walked through the doors of CR Preschool at Education Center No. 10, Kaikasha is studying commerce, has an advanced diploma in financial accounting and has been working part-time at an accounting firm since July.
After completing Year 12, 20-year-old Kaikasha began studying commerce, but also wanted to find a part-time job.
Tuli, the head of vocational training at Calcutta Rescue, arranged for her to do her accounting diploma, which she passed with flying colors.

Her monthly salary of 8,000 rupees (approx. CHF 85) already helps to supplement the salary of her father, a fruit seller.
"She has always studied very hard," says Priyanka, director of No. 10. "She is also a very good dancer and actively participates in cultural programs.
"Normally, many girls my age get married. But Calcutta Rescue has taught me to be independent and take care of myself first. I can help my family, I can also spend the money on my own needs and even think about pursuing hobbies if I want to," says Kaikasa.
Kaikasha is a good example of how hard work and education can change a person's life.
