One of the most direct ways Calcutta Rescue implements its motto, "Creating opportunities and changing lives", is by helping the 650 students from the slums who attend the two education centers to find good, well-paid jobs. This is no easy task, however, as these students often have little understanding of and contact with people in "normal" jobs.
To counteract this obstacle, Tuli, the head of vocational training at CR, works patiently with each student over a period of several years. Her goal is to identify each student's interests and abilities. To do this, she provides information, industry insights, vocational training and, ultimately, job application support.

Tuli has a clear vision for her students: "We want our students to see a better future and be able to stand on their own two feet. My approach is to show them the practical scenario without demoralizing them. I try to channelize their dreams and set realistic goals that they can achieve. In doing so, I give them the much-needed guidance so that they can realize their dreams."

For each student, this means individual attention and support. Tuli works closely with them to identify their strengths and interests. She helps them explore the different career options available and gives them an insight into the world of work. She also provides them with targeted vocational training to improve their skills and knowledge in their chosen field.
Once the students have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge, Tuli supports them in applying for a job. This includes preparing CVs, practicing job interviews and networking with potential employers. Tuli always strives to encourage their students and give them the confidence they need to pursue their goals.
Through this dedicated approach and individual support, CR has already helped many pupils to build a better future. The students are able to break out of the poverty spiral and lead a self-determined life. Tuli and her team at CR do everything they can to give students the tools and motivation to realize their dreams and succeed in their chosen career field.
